Mythemia – Deutscher Fantasy Folk Rock
Mythemia – German Fantasy Folk Rock
Since their debut album “Weltenwanderer” in 2014, Mythemia has established itself as a prominent part of the German folk and medieval scene. As a supporting act for well-known scene figures and with performances at one of the largest and most significant events in the genre, the “Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum,” the band was able to reach a large audience in its early years.
A new chapter began for the band when they welcomed Rodrigo Mansilla as their new lead singer in 2018. With this change, the band opted for a modern acoustic folk-rock sound featuring violin and cello, along with German lyrics, to sharpen their profile.
Until 2020, Mythemia toured all across Germany, including appearances at the prestigious Hayner Burgfest, the annual Hörnerfest, and the newly established Sternenklang Festival by Alexander Prinz (“Der Dunkle Parabelritter”).
The release of their second studio album, “Firmament,” in 2020 was overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic and had to be restructured without the planned nationwide tour. Nevertheless, the band managed to attract numerous listeners on streaming platforms and presented their new album with an online concert at Burg Satzvey.
With the single “Heimfahrt” (released on Christmas 2020), the band created a ballad about homesickness and hope, a song that became a staple at their concerts. Mythemia received support from over twenty fellow musicians and fans who contributed with audio and video recordings for this track.
In 2021, the band remained active with performances at the (online) Sternenklang Festival and the Hörnerfest, while simultaneously working on their upcoming album, “Nimmerland.” A small preview was already released with the song “Insel am Rande der Zeit.”
As the pandemic subsided, Mythemia finally had the chance to present their new songs to a broad audience, including appearances at the Mead & Greed Festival in Oberhausen and the GAMEVENTION in Neumünster. In November and December, the band played over 40 concerts at the Phantastischer Lichterweihnachtsmarkt in Dortmund, where they took over the main stage for two days, alongside bands like In Extremo, Mono Inc., Versengold, and Feuerschwanz.
In 2023, Mythemia once again graces stages all across Germany. Besides festival gigs at the SKH Spektakulum and FKP Scorpio’s Plage Noire Festival, they have a standout performance as the support act for Versengold at the Bassum Open Air. With the release of their third studio album, “Nimmerland,” in October, the band consistently continues their journey and looks forward to presenting their current stage show at concerts throughout Germany.
